Your hotel for cyclists … where the professionals train
Over the years, we have welcomed many cycling teams and champions to our facilities, such as Alejandro Valverde and Enric Mas. They have enjoyed the unique setting of the Sierra Nevada for their training and have made use of our bike-friendly area.
They were the ones who officially opened this new area of the hotel, and for us it has been the perfect ‘test’ of our new services for cyclists in the Sierra Nevada, with superb results.
The Spanish team trained in Sierra Nevada .. And Valverde won the World Cup!
The entire Spanish cycling team stayed at El Guerra whilst preparing for the World Cycling Championships held in Innsbruck in September 2018, which saw Alejandro Valverde claim victory. They trained on the roads of the Sierra Nevada and in our gym. In the photos, you can see the whole team relaxing at our facilities and posing alongside El Guerra staff.
This very special visit has led to us being featured in a wide range of media outlets. Alejandro Valverde himself, when asked about his stay at El Guerra, said: “It was wonderful. We were at an altitude of 1,550 metres, at the El Guerra hotel, where they treat us like family. I’ve been training there for two years now before the Tour.”
Make the most of your route with a local guide
If you wish, you can hire for 50 € the accompanying guide service to make routes. You can talk to the hotel and the guide will adapt to the route you want to make or give you recommendations. It has a van in which bicycles can be transported.
The guide will accompany you on the whole journey and you can take care of the road and simply enjoy the route.
